Mapuche Communities in Conflict: Lands in Dispute
Since the occupation of Mapuche territory from 1885, successive Chilean and Argentinean governments have passed legislation to "protect" land ownership by indigenous communities. This, however, has not been realised. Mapuche territory has been illegally seized. Today the Mapuche are demanding the restitution of their land HERE
